Cameron Ponder VFW Post 12237 proudly supports the annual Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen competitions — two nationwide programs that give middle and high school students the chance to share their views on democracy, patriotism, and civic responsibility.

• Voice of Democracy is open to grades 9–12. Students submit a 3–5 minute recorded essay for a chance at scholarships, including a top national prize of $35,000.

• Patriot’s Pen is open to grades 6–8. Students submit a 300–400 word essay with the opportunity to earn scholarships, with a top national prize of $5,000.

This year’s theme is: "How are you showing patriotism and support for our country?”
